I have formally protested to sky.

Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am writing to you to place my objection to your attitude to a charity event held each year in Southport. As a Sky subscriber I find the attitude of the company to be reprehensible on something that has a great following and ultimately makes donators of a wide spectrum support such an event.
If you make an issue of it then I will cancel my subscription forthwith.

What beats me is the attitude and such sayings as "supporting our subscribers" Sky doesn't give a shit about anyone, least of all its customers.

Apparently the CEO got wind of this,so now, not only are they supporting the event, they have contributed £1500 to each of the 3 charities the event supports and raises money for...

Yep. Rick Hulse from NABD sent a letter outlining the charity funds raised by the event so Sky did a graceful turnaround. Hats off to them for closing the contact centre for the day to override the H&S objections

Dear Mr Ford

Thank you for raising your concerns with me and I apologise for any misunderstanding that has been caused in this matter. Since the publication of the article you mention, I am pleased to say this matter has been amicably settled with the charities and organisers of the event.

Sky at no point objected to the charity event being held, as reported. We had some concerns about the safety of Sky staff as the event takes place right outside our contact centre, blocking access and fire escapes, making it difficult for us to provide a safe environment for our employees over the busy August bank holiday.
We in fact began discussions last September to try and find a suitable solution where we could stay open to support our customers whilst working with the charities, Roughleys and the local council to explore other options for a suitable alternative venue.
However, from the ongoing discussions that have taken place, it’s clear that St Peter’s Square remains the ideal location for Roughleys Bike Show, and I can confirm Sky Stockport are pleased to support the event taking place there again this August. As a result, we will close the Sky Contact Centre on August Bank Holiday and Sky will make alternative arrangements to support our customers from other contact centres.

We have already confirmed this with Roughleys and the charities involved and I am pleased to say we are in full support of the event taking place again this year in August in St Peter’s Square.
