Sorry I've been pre-occupied with health issues, which are ongoing and I'm feeling really miserable about it. (Last 6 months have been back and fro to hospital as I have follicular lymphoma and its getting worse).
Enough said, will chuck a few quid in today.

That's a complete arse Gio - hopefully your treatment programme isn't too arduous and you start making better progress soon..

Speaking of shaking the tin - just noted that my (small) regular contribution left my bank account yesterday, and tbh, I wondered if there's really any point as no-one seems to visit the forum any more?

Hello BG,
Seems like we are the only people left in the country !
Is this the devastating effect of Hurricane Boris ?
Has everybody eaten each other even before we run out of world wide air freighted food ?
Zombie Apocalypse ?

We certainly are living in weird times. I can't remember anything remotely like it. Unfortunately I think that weird is the default these days.

But at least I had the opportunity for a ride on Italian and Austrian 2-wheeled contraptions today, which improved the overall mental state greatly.

Hi all, I've tried to contact a few Admins but I've yet to get any response.

I'm Ben. I was a member here years ago when Hammy was running the site in its prime.

I've seen the threads on funding and seen the decline in active members and wondered if I could help. I started Visordown a long time ago, I have a lot of experience with forums.

I'm interested to know if I could take on RiderSite to secure its future and work with the team to buff things up around here, get more active members and improve the site. I have a decent level of technical knowledge and lots of ideas on how to rejuvenate the forum.

No plastering the site with banner ads, guaranteed.

I'm passionate about biking and I have a soft spot for forums. It would be great to get RiderSite back on track. Can anyone help me contact whoever is in charge?

All the best, Ben

'Ello Ben.

Saw your fb message and knew it'd be something to do with RS.

I've been away for a long time now, handed my keys over to Pete and the guys a while back.. usually popping in to make sure BG isn't brewing dodgy wines in the back store of Sam's bar and a general flit about here and there at least once a year.

Yeah I remember the old times when Visordown was run by a young lad and when either site went down either VD came to RS or RS went over to VD. Silentmemory bouncing between the two as only Silent can do.

I'll see if I can't give one of them a nudge. they will know how RS is sat and funded nowadays.

The useful info could be extracted and retained by someone with a bit of techie nerdness, or posted as files on a Facebook group.

But we'll see what happens.

Facebook doesn't do long term retrievable data storage. It's all about the now and anything older than a week or so is impossible to find. Forums like this to my mind still very much have a purpose - they're informational and they greatly expand the field of huiman knowledge.

You can find stuff out on FB, but that information will be unavailable in a week or so. I can still access posts I made 10 years ago on this site - no way could I easily do that on FB.

If you upload them as files, they just sit there. There's still info on the group for our bike club that's been defunct for years. They're downloadable too.
