Rxs back to its best!

Feeling pleased with myself today. I've not been happy with my little Yamaha Rxs lately after putting it back on the road. It wouldn't pull well in top gear and I was finding I was having to travel a lot in fourth gear with a slight head wind or incline. I also noticed the front end was bouncing along and couldn't see anything in the mirror due to vibration.
I've recently had it rebored and new piston etc and so was wondering if something was amiss here. Anyway decided to try and rectify the front end bounce first and so I stripped the forks down and replaced the 27 year old old oil and fitted new seals.
Slightly better but still something amiss! :smt017
Wheels whipped straight off and taken to local bike shop where it was diagnosed that the tyres were far too wide for the rims and weren't seated correctly. The tyres were on the bike when I got it and were like new!
Any way correct tyres now fitted along with new tubes ( rear tube had a puncture repair on top of a previous repair! :smt009 ) and what a transformation!
This bike is like new again ,will pull right round to redline in top and even has some acceleration, can sit comfortabling at 50 and easily goes up to the heady heights of seventy.
Perhaps even 75 laid on the tank with feet on the back indicators :smt005
The rear tyre was so wide it was rubbing on the brake stay and rubbing 10mph off my top speed. Front end still bounces a bit but have decided this is probably normal and can at least see in the mirror up to about fifty but after that no ones catching me anyway! :smt118
And second cause for smug grin is that I've been playing with my cheapo bt headset and have repositioned the ear pieces so I can actually hear it now and I've learnt how to pair it to my phone!
I've had it a while and never really sat down and played with it!
They say things come in threes so you never know Lincs council may come up with some cash for my MV wheels! :smt002

I had a similar problem when I was a new rider on an RXS - some knowledgeable biker (?) said to me - you want to put some proper round bike tyres on that, it would handle even better - I did and it didn't!

After that, if I wanted advice I would ask at least three people what they thought, and NOT necessarily listen to the one that sounded most confident!

Miss that little bike.........
