Don't judge me

#1 Post by squadron Nero » Fri Aug 21, 2015 6:17 pm

But for some reason I'm currently the winning bidder on a Yamaha virago 1100. Not long left and I think I might end up winning it.

I like the look of them and always fancied a bobber / cruiser style bike. These days it seems every time I get on the Falco I end up doing silly speeds and spending a lot of the time only on one wheel. I'm hoping this will reconnect me with the joy of riding without the need to treat the roads like a race track.

Mart, if I win it you'll have to let me into the shaft drive club 😉👌

I doubt very much if you'll be the first on here to experience mart"a shaft!!
He tried to get me to okay with it once ... Foolish man

That said there are a lot worse bikes you could buy
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

They can be converted into very nice cafe racers.

Please tell me that is what you are planning :smt003

Nope, tbh I wouldn't want to do anything to it. The amount I've spent on my Falco. It never ends I've still go a list of things I want for it. I'm not going down that road again. It's been fun and I love my bike but I can't do it again.

I'll just ride it and keep it in good nick and I should get my money back when I get bored or fancy something else.

Have you had a close look at, or sat on one? They look a little on the cramped side; often recommended for shortarses, which you definitely aren't.

Enjoy the difference. And not having to bother with those silly, messy chains.

Not really. I've seen a few about but never paid much attention to them. I was bored trawling eBay and a Guzzi Nevada poped up real cheap. I started looking at cruisers and I spotted this virago. Clean, low miles, looks and sounds well looked after. No reserve, so threw a bid at it. It's not over yet but I'm still winning and its very close to ending now.

Then I'll just have to explain it all to the wife 😂

The single most awful bike I've ever had the displeasure to work on. Hideous thing. :smt005

Nevada would be too small for you. And they're rather gutless.

Virago - for some reason my absolute least favourite bike. Really, I'd rather have a Harley! Sorry.

I know, if you can't say anything nice.........

Actually I'd rather have a Harley. I don't have the money for one though. If I did I probably wouldn't buy one. I'd probably get a Tuono.

If I wanted a Harley (which I never would) and couldn't afford one, there are lots of other great cruisers out there which are NOT Viragos!

Why do you feel the need for Viagro when you own a thundering beauty called Falco ?
Actually, I do understand the feeling of needing to calm it a bit, the Falc simply does it so bloody well and it's addictive....
But really history has proven the japs can't do V twins.

I sat on once and it felt really weird, like being splayed out like a horny teddy bear but with nothing of substance in front and too much hanging out behind.

Also, have you looked up what the word means? We won't hold it against you...

The dreams over. I was outbid in the dying seconds. It sat there at under a grand all week. I bid £1500, took it to just over a grand where it sat until the last few moments and rocketed up to a final bid of £1720. Oh well. I may keep one ear to the ground and one eye on the sellers pages to see if anything crops up.

Prey tell BG, what would you have / recommend then?

Fatboy, it's not necessarily a virago just something different for when the mood takes me.

Squid, I seem to attract angry women and if they're not angry I soon seem to make them so!
