Drink driving on the increase, especially in young people aged 17-25. Of course, "safety" cameras make us all safer from this hazard... :smt011

I specially liked this bit;
"And they're killing themselves, they're mutilating themselves, which is such a tragic waste of life."
They're better off dead IMO. They know its wrong yet they do it, waste of space is all they are.

"There is a perception that street crime needs a higher profile so police are actually being put onto the streets rather than in their traffic cars to come across these drink-drivers."

Yeah right! :smt013

My ar$e :smt017

Try phonin the force if some thievin scrote tryin to break in to yer house and see how long it takes for them to arrive.
OTOH erect a pie stall outside yer house and you won't be able to move for 'em.

bit strong gio, i know it needs stopping, but hav'nt we all done it in our youth. two have just been killed in my village through drink, one 19 and one 16 year old girl, what a waste. if we had our village bobby back i'm sure this would have been prevented. :smt009

Would agree Andy,
Last year I was up really late one night, (well mornin!), and was just goin to bed at around 02:40 hrs. when I heard our gate open and footsteps down the path.
Thought what the hells goin off and opened curtain to see two coppers outside. Went out and they explained that a neighbour up the road had seen somebody messin with my garage door at around 8:30pm and reported it to the police as they thought we were on holiday and they thought somebody was tryin to break in, so they had come to check it out.
Explained that they knew it was a bit late, but had to come and check things out so they could close it on the computer!
Don't suppose they really expected to catch em "in the act" over 6 hours later!
My next door neighbour reported a break in at his shop round the corner recently and they came 6 days later. Mind you this was a big improvement, as the previous time the shop was broken into, they never turned up at all, just got a letter in the post a week later with 2 telephone numbers, one offering Crime Prevention advice and the other asking him if he had been affected by the break in and did he need councelling.
Glad this is the improved service now they have released the traffic cops for normal duties.

Maybe it is a bit strong, but I'm sure I've nearly been knocked off a bike twice by drunk drivers.
But I didn't, for the simple reason that if plod didn't catch me, then my dad would and I know what was more scary of the 2
