Since having my falco written of ive been looking at getting a rsv around about a 2004 model but every one ive seen has had a problem with the clocks (mileage) resetting itself when the battery has been removed .My question is ..Is there a easy fix for this , and what else is there to look out for .

That's normal behaviour, a falco does the same, with the battery removed the bike will assume factory settings ( kph and running in rev limit)
Takes seconds to restore mph and 10k rev limit !
I could live with it !

What i mean by mileage resetting is the clock completely resetting itself so the overall mileage is zeroed

I think that's what fatboy meant.

Maybe worth considering a 2003 R as apparently that is the best of the breed.

Well I have never had the mileage zero itself, that must be the clocks at fault.
RSV and Falc share same clocks so unless RSV's have a known problem for cooking clocks then blame the Spanish factory that made them

The total bike mileage shouldn't reset, this should be hard stored in the clocks or chip (not sure where), when the battery is removed everything else on the clocks should reset to factory default except the total mileage (which will revert back to km though).

If the total mileage reset itself then they would all be prone to mileage fraud and I doubt they'd get type approval from VOSA, so as fatboy says someone is spinning you a yarn or they have shagged electronics.

Besides stop being a knob and get another falco, they look sooooo much nicer

Total bike mileage is normally stored in NVRAM (Non Volatile Random Access Memory). This retains its information when power is switched off. As Wayno said, if this wasn't the case you couldn't rely on any non-mechanical mileage readout.

Loved me falco just thought i would get something that hopefully was a little more reliable and love the look of the rsv and speed

The differences performance wise are negligible.

I think both bikes look stunning
