We have been told there cannot possibly be any form of Christmas party this year.........
As you've had a pay rise.
It's usually limited to 25 people with 2 free drinks or no party but a £10 voucher for all full timers, around 55 of us.
My heart bleeds for them as they only made £146 million profit in this financial year :smt010 :smt010

Most management needs lessons in how to encourage staff loyalty - but that beats all!

Many, many years ago back when I worked for the man we were told we couldn't have Christmas party because if somebody injured themselves while pissed the company would be liable.

Personally I think it's sour grapes.

I would get together with the none management staff and arrange another party without inviting them.

Don't forget next year you will need another pay rise :smt002

Working for a public organisation (police) we never got a Christmas do paid for, but our office generally organised reasonably priced evening meal in a pub.

One year when there was a new department manager, she decided to organise a 'do' for the whole department. This turned out to be a lunch (we were expected to return to work after) at a posh local hotel and was going to cost £30 each - and she wondered why we didn't want to go, 'as the cost was so reasonable'.
.

Silly cow.

Wonder if thats the real reason. I banned office parties after one poor young guy drank too much, got in his car and wrapped himself round a tree. dead. And so was Xmas.

Not an issue of company liability - well wasnt then but may be now. It was just that office Xmas parties invariably got our of hand one way or another. So I sent them home early instead.

You realise that free for two people means the MD + 1...

The last company I worked for banned xmas dos because of the high incidence of managers getting punched in the teeth. Except for the woman manager, she just ended up with her xmas dinner on her head.
