Apparently we may need our Driving Licence number to get insurance in future...

Haven't seen this mooted before - maybe someone knows something about it?

For a change, this makes sense. Why would you need insurance if you're not insured?

It won't stop this kind of fraud anyway. ANPR systems are fairly easy to fool.

I have to have a photocopy of my licence sent to my insurers usually when the broker finds an alternative insurer on re newel, and have done for some time.
I personally don't mind.
For a vehicle to be insured does not mean an insured driver is at the wheel?
For the honest ones in us who like to do things the right way will have no issues

More stupid and needless red tape that will only lead to an increase in uninsured vehicles on the road.
