Bike tax ran out end of last month, car tax runs out today, no info whatsoever provided by dvla with the reminders.
Ive just read the new rules, the tax is surrendered and refunded when you sell a vehicle but you cannot use a vehicle you buy until you tax it...so how do you get it home if dont have access to online facilities to tax the vehicle by direct debit ?
If you dont comply then you may face a £1000 fine but dvla dont seem to eager to explain how to comply

It'll be all done with ANPR now then. The PNC will take a little while to update as forms are on their way to the DVLA etc. I'd say as long as the vehicle is taxed, MOT'ed and insured when you buy it, then you should be ok getting home without being pulled. Granted, it's risky and could cost, but I for one will take the chance.

I personally think it's a farce. The DVLA can just about keep up with who is responsible for what, let alone all the new VED applications they're going to have to deal with. They'd better get a few more sheep on the treadmills, otherwise they're going to run out of power for the database systems. PMSL!! :smt005

Ok.. They can't. They're totally inept at pretty much very task they're supposed to handle. They are however, very very quick and efficient at taking money from us and issuing fines.. Can't fault them on that.

Just changed my car, and the Renault is going to be scrapped.
There was six months rent left when I sent it in.
I didn't get six months worth back though.
Quite a bit less.
Administration? :smt017
