I was after a new pair of jeans. I did have 2 pairs but I discovered that one pair now has a ventilated arse and the other pair doesn't seem as though it'll last much longer.

So today I went to both Tesco and Asda trying to find some new ones.

I was rather perplexed .... almost none of the jeans in stock had zips - they all seem to be done up with buttons.
Weird.

Can't imagine why anyone would actually want a more difficult fastening mechanism so I'm guessing there must be a shortage of zips.

What's more I didn't only look at the £5 jeans and would have considered the £10 ones too if they had sensible fastenings and felt comfortable .... and in the interests of researching fastening mechanisms, I did even look at their £15 range - not that I'd have been likely to spend that sort of money on them.

Result ... came away empty handed

Noticed that myself. Not that I buy them at all. That's what a wife is for. However, when I've been in a shop selling such items, it's usuall with SWMBO.. So I get bored and wander off.. A bit like a child really. Have been known to sit in the middle on an isle gently rocking back and forth, thumb in mouth, until found..

Better put the Falco up for sale and purchase a HD. Bloody hell! That's some sort of old man moan!

Yes, mine was a "supervised" shop .... I really don't understand this not-online shopping thing.
She even sent me to "try them on" in some sort of cupboard (in a small row of these cupboards) ...... with an instruction to choose them myself. Must admit it all went a bit wrong from that point onwards.

I sympathise! I hate shopping for clothes and I hate button-crotched trousers although I don't possess a pair of denims myself ( I presume we are talking denims here). I tghought all jeans were "skinny" with lycra these days so it's reassuring to note that at least the cut, if not the crotch, suited you. perhaps you should accept that you're just too old for jeans and get yourself a nice pair of "slacks" and a blazer.

The only benefit of the button fly it the removal of penis perforation risk that comes with a zip, something you only do once (as a kid in my case)

Anyway, crisis now averted.
My "personal shopper" went to do the weekly shop this morning and called in at somewhere they sell jeans on the way home.

One pair purchased that fit OK and have the correct fastening apparatus.



Not the cheapest pair mind you. We had to run to 6 quid for these.

£6 for a whole pair of jeans?? Don't think I could buy a zip for less than £6 here :-s

Need to seriously think about moving somewhere cheaper.

£6? Are you sure they're full jeans and not the Hareleyesque chaps style with, er, certain areas overexposed? Could be chilly as winter approaches.

Kangaroo Poo off M and M Direct for me. Bit dearer at £14 a pair mind, but you can't take it with you.

I hate to boast about the supersize zip required in the "personal access" zone of my trousers - but yes, now that you mention it, they did provide one of sufficiently generous proportions
