So, the stolen CB250 saga continues after all. The bike has been recovered and is safely locked away in the workshop.. However, there is a twist to the tail.

It turns out the DVLA (whom we pay lots of money to) are now issuing V5c's for stolen bikes! That's right. The CB250 now has two log books. Brilliant isn't it.. The chap who had the bike called me yesterday to let me know a new V5c had landed on his doormat less than 24 hours after the bike had been removed from the PNC as being stolen.

Just.. Wow..

The mind is boggled ..... what are those clowns playing at?

I was surprised when I acquired a car that had no V5 to find that the DVLA were quite happy to issue one without any enquiries! Possibly because they have this disclaimer that "being the registered keeper is not proof of ownership" - or words to that effect. In other words 'nothing to with us guv'

Why the hell is there no form of regulation for the DVLA, other than the DVLA?
They do not have to be fair, efficient,consistent because they have no bloody competition and no bloody watchdog to kick them up the ass.
There seems to be no fail safe systems in place, data entered into the system then becomes set in stone, virtually impossible to rectify any mistake they make and they make far too many mistakes, some mistakes can screw over peoples lives

They are a quango staffed by ex civil servants - what else do you expect? When did you last deal with an arm of government that was anything other than lousy?

My sister had a letter a few years ago saying someone else had requested the logbook for her car. She had 14 days to respond or they'd issue one. Makes you think.

Too bloody true

The previous keepr of mine had died so they wouldn't have had a reply - but it didn't take them two weeks to issue the V5c (!) so they couldn't have been waiting for that.

A letter or email to your MP might be in order. These agencies are accountable and MPs can get answers. If we don't raise these issues, they'll never get fixed.

Right then. A day in court looms I feel.

Have had a letter telling me I'm being fined for not telling them I'd disposed of a motor vehicle (in MARCH!). I was going to phone them and fire a round of fucks into them, but something amazing happened. It turns out that not only do they sign over stolen bikes to other parties, they'll also issue a V5c to someone who hasn't had the previous form signed by the new 'keeper'.

My dad called me to say he'd received a V5c for the 250, but it didn't have my name on it as previous keeper, but had that of the people in Bournemouth.. Who were issued a V5c (while the bike was on the PNC as being stolen), meaning there were two floating around.. And, to an end, there still is.

So. Their issue/numbering system clearly doesn't work. Every reference number printed on the V5c means nowt, and also clearly demonstrates that the DVLA are beyond all reasonable doubt, a complete waste of tax payers money.

I wonder if TC would be able to point me in the direction of some press bods to bring this further into the public domain. We pay an extortionate amount of money to these fucktards, and I'm struggling to find a reason why..

These fuckers need to be held to account for the continual piss poor performance they deliver and we pay for. They are just unacceptably shite, its really not good enough.
They are way too quick to penalise us,( who fund them ) for the most trivial delay or mistake, then try to penalise us for any mistake they make because we have to wait weeks to find out they have fucked it up

Motor cycle news would love to hear about this I think.
Also if it does go to print(which I think it will) there would be a lot come forward with similar stories.
I would also be tempted to go to court, and I trust you have the waste of time crime reference number that the police gave you when you reported the bike stolen?
It would be nice to see the dvla be shown for what seems to be an incredible and complete balls up on their behalf.
I thought sending driving licences back with removed bike entitlement was bad, but this has to be the biggest fu*k up of the millennium.

Agreed - if it wasn't the DVLA it would be unbelievable!
