For those in the south, and an alternative to Bikesafe

Yesterday, I was invited to attend and observe the motorcycle safety performance day at Castle Combe circuit, and I have to say I was really impressed with the quality of instruction, content and emphasis on enjoyment.

The day costs £99 (which I appreciate is probably more expensive than a Bikesafe day), and it does not include any road riding.

However, the day was split into various sections, including -

Machine handling on the track

Observation

Planning

Braking and Avoidance Skill on the Track

Vehicle Maintenance

Smart Riding

There is also a theory session explaining accident or crash causation which even I found interesting, and is very interactive in that course members are invited to give their reasons and thoughts as to how certain crashes occurred.

There are several track sessions, the last part of the day being free time to go out and enjoy the track.

Courses are run as and when there are sufficient numbers (yesterday there were 30 people divided into 3 groups)

Highly recommended, and if you would like to consider this day as an alternative to Bikesafe, then further info can be found at http://www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk/tra ... ety%20Days

I wonder whether we have interest for a Forum Group Booking?
I know it is a long way for some but if we made a weekend of it (or if it's weekdays only, a couple of days) with a campsite or a handy travelodge or something .....

The combination of rider improvement with track fun sounds a winning formula when mixed with a forum get-together.

If you sent an email to Rodney Gooch who is the head of motorcycle track events, I am sure he would be delighted to accomodate where possible or at least discuss the possibility with you.

His email address is - rodney@castlecombecircuit.co.uk
