MOT!

Failed....... :smt022

I was worried about the handbrake, which was fine - the problem was a fork seal which seemed perfectly ok when I left home (although it's hard to tell without actively checking as it has gaiters) and had failed spectacularly by the time it was tested, with oil running down the fork leg!

Still, booked in Wednesday so I should get it back to the test centre within 14 days for a free retest.

Bit of a bummer though cos I've been waiting to get back on the road after SORN through the winter, made myself wait till 1 April so 6 months tax will take me through to end of September, then discovered the MOT was out. Nopw more waiting - bet the weather will turn sunny too!

Mine did that over the winter, at least it's an easyish, cheapish fix. It felt like a new bike with the new seals and the nice new oil on the inside instead of manky old oil dribbling everywhere.

Clean them up, lift the gaiters and stuff a load of sponge or rags up um. Kitchen roll works a treat. Catches the oil before it's visible, and they're not allowed to lift the gaiters to look.. :smt002

Thought of that but it's booked in for Wednesday - I'd rather have it sorted! Riding a trike is hard work enough without the forks not working properly.

From personal experience, I found it hard to tell the difference.. Unless using a leading link set up.

With my old front end that might have been so, but I didn't pay loadsa dosh for custom made billet extended yokes and wide bars, to let them down with wonky forks!

The front end mods really made a huge difference to the handling - no more rear wheel steering, hold a line over bumps, and I can steer with one hand when pushing it which I couldn't before.
