Ouch, nasty mishap

My mate was reassembling the forks from a Suzuki Savage , a horrible US custom style thing.
The forks are fairly long so have a preload spring spacer, with is thin walled tubing, machine cut with a tapering edge.
He was pushing down on the fork cap nut, trying to compress the spacer/spring assembly and slipped...
The sharp edge completely severed one finger, partially severing the two syrrounding fingers, 70% chance of losing one finger

That sounds pretty horrific !

All the best to your mate. Hope the manage to save as much as possible.

I know that owners of crappy US customs deserve punishment but nobody would wish that on him.

Im glad to report two things
A) He does not own the bloody thing

B) He can see a funny side to this, no response in A&E to the statement 'Ive chopped my fingers off' then his workmate placed the severed finger in a clear plastic bag on the reception counter.....

Ah, good man. Proper bloke who doesn't make a big song n' dance over it.. Just get on with sorting it out. Brilliant.

Still. Bit of a shite one. Hope he recovers as well as can be expected. (new nic-name.. 'Stumpy' :smt002 )

I always knew it was hard to get into america, but I think they may have taken things a bit too far now.

Hope your mate makes a good recovery, losing a finger has got to get him out of doing the dishes though surely!!

I will pass on the good wishes, he is a bit of a bloke, more pissed off with one handed spannering than the prospect of losing a finger.
Was on his way to pick up next project last night, not sure he does 'take it easy'. His Mrs gave up when she found hin escaped from his wheelchair, polishing his Busa a few years ago

Kin ell! Give him my best as a member of the not quite so many bits as I started out with club.

Suzuki Savage you say - ever seen that vampire motorcycle film?
