:smt001 bars open guys, anyone fancy joining me. Got a new job as a firefighter. Have to go to teeside at the start of march for my initial training then the rest is at the firestation it's been approx 4 months since I applied before I got official word. Big change from joinery for the last 18 odd years. And been driving trucks for the last 6 months.
So drink up guys :smt001

Congratulations, a great start to the New Year.

As we all know firemen are rich bastards cos they do work on the side when they are off shift, so I'll have a pint of rough cider followed by a double of the finest single malt the bar has to offer :smt003

Tim will be pleased - he'll have you on speed-dial - ready for the next time his air-box goes up in flames!

Congrats on the new job and I'll have one of whatever it is they drink in your northerly part of the world.

Congratulations Woody! Will you need to change your name to Shetland Smoky? You've done well to land that job; I know a few guys who tried and failed to get into the fire service. Is it the training centre in Darlington that you'll be attending? I used to live along the road in Yarm when I worked on a petrochemical site down there. Seen my fair share of fires; I take my hat off to you guys. All the best with the new job.

Thanks guy's, :smt001 really looking forward to it. Yes it's the training site in Darlington that I'm going to. I've heard its a great place to train and visit so looking forward to that part. Poor wages for a while, while the initial training goes on. 3 years before I'm fully qualified but I go on the run after 6 months.
The interview stages were pretty grueling going over 3nights.
1rst night, fitness and physical
2nd night, maths test and literacy test
3rd night assuming you passed the first two was the interview.
Hopefully pick up some part time work or homers to subsidise the lower income.
Cheers guys :smt030
