Hi all what are your views on this new in crash helmet display called the bike hud www.bike-hud.com looks goods or just a gimick

It's a good idea, though not sure how well it will work in practice. I know Reevu helmets are looking at building a helmet with it properly incorporated not as an add-on. I think Reevu have had talks with some manufacturers about getting data direct from the bike via wireless comms.

I also believe there is a Russian company doing a similar thing as Reevu.

I think the NUVIZ looks particularly interesting .... still open for crowd-sourced funding

Not sure at all. The idea of getting info without being distracted in any way is good - even looking at the speedo is a distraction of sorts. But why use your vision? Why not your ears? All the info they mention could be given to you as sound signals without in any way blocking your eye sight

I guess it may be an individual thing but I would find auditory information a bit of a distraction, ie driving with radio too bloody loud to think properly.
The peripheral vision thing far less distracting because your eyes are constantly scanning anyway so you should be capable of processing visual data instantly.
