A courier company.
I ordered a rear tyre and textile jacket from different companies, both using DPD.
I recieved a text from DPD yesterday around 9am confirming delivry date today with 3 options, deliver to me or neighbour, postpone till wed/thurs.
I got anothe text from DPD today, 9am giving me a delivery slot of 5.40 to 6.40pm today.
Driver turned up at 6pm with both items, pretty good for rush hour traffic, but really how it should be, take note Parcelfarce and City Link

Use MyHermes meself. Not let me down, but they're slower than most. However, they're also a lot cheaper too. I'm having an engine collected and delivered for less than £10.. Can't grumble at that.

Hell, thats cheap !
I had to pay £65 each way from Bath/Bolton/Bath on a Rotax 500 single lump, and that is a courier doing a regular Lancs to Cornwall run

In general, I find that courier companies do a pretty good job. I've given up on Royal Mail for selling stuff on ebay and I too use My Hermes. Their on-line booking works well and they've never let me down yet but as Willopotomas says, they are slower than others. Our local agent lives just up the road and I think she works for other couriers too so she delivers enough parcels to us to know where to leave stuff safely.

Would almost have been cheaper to hop in the car and DIY.

Ok, so Hermes came through in the end.. A day earlier than I was expecting the engine to turn up.. So they're forgiven.
