Hi folks.
Not every body knows but I do charity events to raise money for childrens charitys.
On june the 6th at 8pm I will be setting off from the chesterfield end of the canal and walk down the bank to west stockwith.
The route will take hopefully with breaks around 18 hours. The route is 46 miles long.
The charity will be the Meningitis trust.
I would ask for yourselves to be kind and help me raise money for what is a worthy charity. :smt038
Here is a link with details of the route.

Just having a look at the canal route on Google Maps satellite - looks like some wonderful country to walk through as long as you get fit enough to enjoy rather than endure!

Are you planning to do it alone or will you have support?

I have walked the canal bank in sections on a few occasions bobbi, and its a nice part of the countryside. Especially near shireoaks where there is a lot of locks.
My brother will also be doing the walk also and possibly my cousin.
I have back up support organised that will meet us at check points.
I have walked back from kiveton park to west stockwith a few years ago, which is 34 miles and it took me ten and a half hours.

This is all in my area Jay, I live less than a mile away from the canal, (nearest link by road is Kiveton Park Station, a longer drive to Shireoaks), and it's a place we often walk.
If you are in a state of collapse at that time, you can always call around to be fed and rested.
Otherwise will probably pop down and see you on the day for a walk.

I caught the train from Gainsborough through to chesterfield which passes through kiveton park station earlier on this year. I walked back from chesterfield to kiveton park and caught the train back to Gainsborough
I managed to do this section in four and a half hours Howard.
Thanks for the offer of a Brew on the walk but we will be setting off at 8pm and should pass through kiveton at half midnight.
