why is it that .....

within 5 mins of putting on my helmet, dropping the visor, and riding off, my nose starts to itch? Or my eye. Or my upper lip. And I'm scratching it on and off, all the time I am riding. So there I was yesterday riding in the outside lane at ... mph :smt003, one hand on the bars and visor up with one finger scratching. Not once but every 5 mins or so.

Its only the bit of my face that is behind the visor so it isnt the fabric of the lining that is the problem.

Do you find the same sort of thing? I wonder if its mental tbh. And no - I havent got fleas.

There's your problem. Pick the visor up from wherever it's fallen, reattach it to the helmet and then ride off. You'll be fine... :smt003

Very occasionally but usually when riding slowly or stopped.

Once the pace picks up it never seems to happen - I guess it gets filtered out in the concentration of riding.
I'm guessing boring motorways would do the same but I almost never ride on them.

Just find roads with curves and pick the pace up :smt002

Is it possible that you may be allergic to some part(s) of the helmet lining ?
Allergies to synthetic materials are not uncommon at all

Thanks but got no allergies. I reckon its either my beard ( pretty short) blowing up and about in the air coming through the vents or more likely its in my mind that as soon as its difficult to scratch I get an itch. Auto suggestion?

Got it between my shoulder blades once and had to stop. So there I am rubbing the middle of my back against a lamp post by the side of the road, a bit like cows scratch themselves on fence posts. Should have seen some of the looks I got. :smt003

Didn't you buy a C3? Have you got the visor fully shut?
It takes a very firm push to seal it, otherwise it stays in leaky town riding mode. Thumb under the chin bar and fingers on the bottom edge works well.
Flatlander bugger off and before you start again - bugger off twice.

No. Using an Italian flip up lid. Most of the time I dont shut it completely anyway - the GS has a decent screen so no need to close the visor at most speeds.

. :smt003
That one. Occasionally get this myself; usually an itch on the ear. Rather like the scenario in which one is desperate for a smoke, simply because one is in an environment where one can't.

Ok so ill tell you what it really is its to do with the blood flow and exposure to the only temp change area in the helmet :smt016
