Motörhead

#1 Post by Willopotomas » Thu Jun 20, 2013 9:46 pm

Are either of our old school metal heads heading to the Motörhead gig at the Wolves Civic in December? After the last couple of years being let down, I've gone and sorted a couple of tickets via a mate, so there's a large contingent of us heading over. Just thought it'd be good to meet up for a couple of ales before, during and after. :smt003

Definitely. It's November, though, according to the Civic website

Also, Hawkwind, at the adjacent Wulfrun Hall, 6th. November. Doing Warrior on The Edge of Time. Andy, are you interested in this?

Yes, very interested - but the problem is that I never know that far in advance whether I will be in the country so can never commit myself until nearer the time (by which time there are never any tickets left)

From past experience, you'd still be able to get tickets a few days beforehand. If it's any help, I can get a ticket for you from the box office - saves the booking fee.

I saw Motorhead in the Guildford Civic Hall a long time ago. That's a lot of noise to fit into a small venue, we ended up listening to them from the bar and it was pretty bearable.

It was good to dive into the main hall from time to time for some full on aural assault though.

last time i saw motorhead was at the isle of man TT - bomber tour i think....

as the thousands disgorged outside - i saw a single act of bravery that amazed me... a chopped lambretta wheelying down the esplanade...... complete with a fishtail parka....

never saw the scooter or rider again but - that was brave

the gig was a tad loud... i suspect that their amplifiers also go to 11....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I remember seeing Motorhead as support to Blue Oyster Cult in 1975 at Hammersmith Odeon and also again in 1980, topping the bill at Stafford Bingley Hall.

Coincidentally, I was diagnosed with advanced hearing loss a few years ago...

"Lemmy Kilmister · 754,426 like this.

We are happy to announce that despite rumors to the contrary, Lemmy is alive, breathing, talking, f**king, drinking, eating, reading and will be back to playing shows shortly. As reported, he did undergo a Motor-pit-stop for some medical maintenance this past spring, and the timing of his recent illness was unfortunate in that it came so soon after that. Lemmy & Co believe in the 'keep calm and carry on' way of thinking. Fans can anticipate more Motörhead live action this summer, as well as the most exciting Motörhead in years, Aftershock, this Fall."
