old hobbies

looking at blinkys post , great fun , just wondering if anyone else had old hobbies ,
this was one of mine till 5 years ago ,then i got the falco .
not my vid but the same helicopter, i had 5 of these i total, they dont survive crashes to well

I used to be into clay pigeon shooting. I still got my gun but don't seem to have the time anymore (there's always something that comes up)

Car rallying (well mainly marshalling!)
With the same club, a sport whose name I can't remember - bit like motorcycle grass-track racing, but with cars, two at a time. Mostly organising the meets.

Narrow gauge railway - the Welshpool and Llanfair, to be specific. I was damn good at drilling holes in sleepers!

Erm - just to prove I am female - knitting jumpers with pictures on!

I can't really think of many hobbies I used to have that I no longer have an interest in now, so forgive the shortness of the list:

Former hobbies:

Stamp collecting - did it as a kid, not an adult.
Building and racing slot cars - wouldn't mind doing that again, actually...
Snowboarding - knees just can't take it any more

Lifelong hobbies:
Music (hi-fi, record collecting, going to gigs, DJing)
Motorbikes (obviously)
Photography (prefer film, but digital is easier)
Travel
Wine

Hang gliding

Something i have dabbled in but money restrictions held me back. Will be looking into getting back into it this year. Gonna be rejoining the BHPA in a few weeks time then looking to do the elementary again as i did not finish the last one due to an instructor who was a complete knob head.
Do you still do it?

but one that has been with me almost all my life is sailing. currently my own Starlight 35 which is cruised in summer and raced through the winter. I dont see me ever giving that up before I am wheelchair bound.

At school and for a few years after it was all about football and athletics.
Then motor bikes took over, (although my first bike was a scooter that I went to school on!).
Then got into cars and modifying them/keeping them running, (especially old sports cars).
Building rally cars for myself and others.
Road rallying initially, which was pretty much racing on the public highway, until it got banned. (Sad, but had to happen, it was getting more dangerous than riding a sports bike).
Out around the lanes of Derbyshire, Yorks., Lincs., and sometimes Wales and the Lake District between midnight and about 6 am.
Then the Government banned it!
Stage rallying, (with the competitive bits off road on farm tracks, forest tracks and old airfields etc.).
Organising both types of rallies.
Marshalling on rallies.
Bikes.
DIY, (including building my own furniture).
Photography for last 30 years or more.
More bikes!
Last 8 1/2 years riding and fettling the Falco!

I learned to play the drums, really enjoyed that but seem has sally would'nt have the drum kit in the house i had the kit in the garage.
I did'nt have enough room for the bikes when the bikes were purchased and the drums so the drums had to be sold.
I fancied learning to sky dive. The training course was called the AFF "Advanced free fall certificate". It was going to cost 1800 quid for the course but i decided to do a tandom sky dive prior to booking the course.
The journey in the plane into the sky was fine and i was really was looking forward the sky dive.
That was until i was stood in the door hole looking out. I did'nt back out of the jump and went along with it but i shut my eyes and almost fookin shit myself when we went out of the plane.
You excellerate to 120 mph in six seconds and that alone i did not enjoy.
My other hobby is walking and thats how i keep fit.
I did the three peaks challenge in 2011 and raised quite a nice amount of money for the bluebell wood childrens hospice near rotherham.
I have climbed ben nevis once, Scarfell pike four times,and mount snowden three times.
This year i have another plan to raise some more money for another childrens charity by walking the full length of the chesterfield canal in one hit with organised break times. The walk is 47 miles. That will be in june.
My other hobby is obviously the bikes.
