So here’s what happens when your back tyre gets a bit over worn then the steel cable breaks and acts like a flail on the rear of the bike at around 250kph. Still it could have been worse, it didn’t deflate and lasted the 150km trip home.

it's not big and it's not clever.. and I bet the pedboi on the SR50 pulling wheelies got more attention from the girls anyway...

I took the wheel off last night and the centre of the rear was very very soft, don't think there was much more distance to an instant deflation, phew.

Still a mate's going to chuck a new Conti RA2 GT on it for me, slightly harder than the RA2 and with more steel in the centre apparently (I should be able to do even more damage then).

The rear plastic has little shards of steel embedded into it, but be able to rub it down and paint it, I have a spare seat cowl in the right colour and a clear rear lens that I'll try tinting, so all in all not the end of the world.

The up side is I'm getting the new rear tyre on a light OZ rim and getting the front changed to the OZ too

I have just had conti road attack 2s fitted to the white bike. I just need some nice weather to bed them in

Unfortunately there are a lot of very long flat bits to negotiate before the really twisty bits in the tablelands in the Cairns area. Last big run to the twisties took all weekend and about 1200km. Some of the slightly bendy bits that are closer can be fun but require the aforementioned high speeds to get a real buzz going.

Didn't have an option, we were in the arse end of nowhere with no mobile signal. I'd never have lived it down if I'd wimped out, we have a "keep going until it dies" attitude, so it had to be done.

I went easy on it on the way back, but I did think it might blow.
