Interesting suggestion from a Crown Court Judge

A Crown Court Judge has suggested that traumatic cases should be televised, for example fatal road crash cases as it would allow others to see what affect it has on others such as the families and loved ones left behind.
Interesting idea!

I don't think it would make the slightest difference.
If the driver who causes a collision is normally a responsible, careful human being, it's a momentaryt lapse of concentration or ill helth etc that leads to the smash.
If they're not, they won't give a damn, in fact they would probably laugh.

Quite right BG
People don't go out there believing their actions are going to hurt people but know there is a small chance they may hurt themselves or others.
Tragedy for the victims and the victims relatives is real and deep but we are so insulated in this world from risk that these rare tragedies (and statistically they are very rare) come as far too great a surprise to some.
We sometimes loose a sense of perspective of how safe things have become.
That said the level of grief and pain for those who do happen to suffer such things is no less than ever it was

Sorry I don't agree, it'd be like televising Jimmy Savile abusing youngsters.

Im in agreement with BG and D-R, though there is a possibilty that girlfriend/wife/best mate of the wreckless driver/rider may be able to appeal to the small amount of human decency we hope they may possess.
I doo see where the man in the wig is coming from

If you read the full article, you will see that the Judge was referring to the summing up and/or sentencing being televised, not the full trial
