I saw this on facebook too.

Some seemed to be asking the question as to whether anyone had actually seen any evidence that the chap had actually taken the boot from the kid and nobody was able to verify one way or the other.

Certainly the chap is a complete scumbag if he did nick it.

Hope someone is able to identify the kid so he can benefit from a happier outcome.

Someone said that on Facebook - and someone else suggested if that was the case, why didn't they post it so we could see for ourselves?

I'm very wary of 'sharing' anything like this on the internet nowadays because so many people don't check the facts before posting.

From the BSB website.....
Since Sunday evening our social media boards have had a raft of comments concerning an alleged incident where a child was punched and Shakey's boot was stolen off of him during the podium celebrations. We have trawled through CCTV and broadcast footage and it's really inconclusive what actually happened in the moment Shane's boot landed. Broadcast coverage doesn't show any assault – what it does show is the guy with the white A&F top with it in his hand and in the background the child visibility hurt and upset as we've all seen. Another possibility is that the child was pushed or fell onto a bicycle (handlebar) that was propped against the pit wall during the general bundle for the boot and you can see it displaced. When the child, who was not with a parent but we believe with his brother was asked by one of our officials if he was OK at no time did he say he was punched. He was taken onto the pit wall to get a better view of the podium. Our marshals or staff didn't report any immediate reaction by people around the incident nor did anyone report an assault to any member of staff.

And looking at the footage, you really can't be certain either way

Looks like the chap in blue was pushed, who then nudged the lad who then clipped the bike. The feller in white didn't appear to make contact with the lad at all.. Certainly not a punch. The shock of twatting the bike with his face and the disappointment of missing out would probably have started the waterworks. Kids can't control their emotions as well as adults. I'm not a psychoanalyst or anything, I just happen to have been a kid once. :smt002

NO!

I take that back! Watch it again. It DOES look like this bastard took the boot off the kid. Watch as the lad and the bloke both 'pull' towards the ground at the same time. It looks like the lad caught the boot (although can't see the catch) and the bloke in while pulled it out of his hands. Looking again, he didn't hit the bike with his face.

That scumbag Shakey ................

So Shakey threw the boot at a kid who was cheering the TYCO Suzuki on, One of his followers saw the boot wasn't going near hard enough and helped it reach the target with a roundhouse?

Just as well he's sponsored by Rapid Solicitors really... :smt002

All sadistic joking aside, Shakey said on twitter his foremost concern is ensuring the kid is found and gets a brilliant day out to compensate, the rest of it is by the by. Kudos to the bloke. Last thing anyone would want is a kid going away with a unhappy experience from a bike racing event. The more I see from Mr B, the more I like him. Great bloke :smt001

Still inconclusive then. I shall remain sceptical on this.
