Dodgy phone app !

Just been looking at some Google news babble re a phone app. that lets you know of parking spaces in your area.
Seems handy,but we are very much in the age of 'shared imformation' so this app also notifies the local parking services of your arrival and expiry time !

How would it know if you bought a ticket for 30 mins or 2 hours?

And what's the problem unless you are looking to avoid paying for parking spaces as you should be?
