Sounds like they should get rid of him first as he hasn't a clue!

It's not unexpected the other directors knew is was lost.
Same all over the council stop funding something, but don't want just stop running it, that would look bad on them, so they hand over the service for somebody else to run, then wonder why they struggle with zero council funding.
This bloke came in from Sheffield Council in April thinking he could just help them run it a bit better, not realising the cupboard was totally bare, now he does not seem to know what to do, but half the staff has already been sent down the road and he needs somebody to help him wind it down!

Thanks Dave, I think we're all going to need a lot of luck over the next year or so, as I reckon things are going to get a lot worse for everybody before they get better.
Like you I've had a fair run in life and done OK work wise, I worry more about my daughter than myself now.
