Bit of a bummer. Sounds like you've had a full life and made the best of things, I don't think anyone can do more than that in their allotted time.

R.I.P Bruce. Although i only knew you for a few years, you have had a huge impact on my life; and will never be forgotten.

I feel terrible, since I came back off hols I have been really busy at work and also had major issues at home and when I did get on the site was just skipping through some of the main posts.
Somehow I had totally missed Tim's post until tonight, I do not really know what to say, but all our thoughts are with you Sam.
I have been close to cancer in my own life as 30 odd years ago I lost both my parents very quickly to cancer. Both had been very healthy for their age until my dad's "ulcer" that he had lived with for 20 odd years "burst". It turned out to be cancer which had already spread massively and he was gone in less than four days.
Exactly a month after dad died we found my mum also had cancer and she was gone within another few weeks. As an only child I had to deal with everything as well as coping with the loss and it hit me badly.
I am so sorry to hear your news Sam and all our thoughts are with you.
I think that the idea of you and your extended family celebrating your life is an excellent idea, I tried to do something similar for my mum and dad and I think it helped a lot.
Keep your chin up mate and if ever you need to talk there will always be somebody on here if you need them.
I am just so sorry.

I like your attitude Sam and I hope to show that courage myself when the time comes.
My brother has recently lost his partner after a protracted fight with cancer and I'm aware that it is those who fought with and are left behind, who can find things the hardest to deal with.
I also know that cancer is touching or will touch, many of us and those we love. All we can do is carry on and try to make the most of each day.

Don't put off 'till tomorrow what you can enjoy today
From a personal point with our situation, the thing that scares me the most is the fact Grandad was the head bloke, then Phil (Sam), assumed that role, looking left and right of arc, s'gonna bloody well fall down to me when Sam has departed for the trackday in the Sky. There's no bloody handbook on the subject! I know.. Ive checked the bookshelves at his house!!
Theyre bloody big footsteps to follow in , despite what he'll say..
The rest of it I can deal with, we've had a few practise runs on the emotions front with the family over the years. May seem a bit selfish or whatever it is about my own concerns on the matter but thats the worrying bit. The rest the old man has braced me for.. see.. the head of the family thing kicking in.
By the way Sam if you want to borrow my Twist of the Wrist 1 and 2 books feel free. Them heavenly trackdays are graced by some big names and I can't see you keeping up with Simoncelli.. even if you are on your old CBR
