Hi Howard - pain wise I seem to be in the "it gets worse before it gets better" zone at the moment.

Painkillers are fairly effective but can take maximum of 4 lots of in 24 hours - so about every 6 hrs. They seem to wear off after about 3 .... after that it's a bit less fun.
Just about to have some more - strung this lot out for 7hrs so far.

Think the ribs are going to take a while - diagnosed as bruised or broken but as they were clicking yesterday I think I know which. They feel similar to when they were broken when I got knocked off Daniel's bike 2 yrs ago - but this time it's the other side and lower down.

Headache is permanent ..... but it'll get better - just going to take a bit of time. Just need to get fit ASAP to look after the Mrs really.

Thanks for asking.

PLEASE TAKE THIS AS GENERIC ADVICE - ie take professional advice

If you can take these, try this regime

2 times 500mg paracetemol four times a day
And
1 times 400mg brufen three times a day

Makes sure you eat with brufen - at least a glass of milk

You can, if you have some also add in codeine - low dose and aspirin

Do not do this till you have spoken to some one who knows what they are doing - pharmacist etc

I will call u later mate

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Bottle of JD. No drugs and no coca cola. Although a bit of ice is permissible.

Sod that - paracetomol is for girls with a scratched knee - does F-all for me.

Codeine and Ibuprofen 4 times per day if it's to have any effect on me.

'Tis OK - saw the doc today

That's more or less what I said to my GP when she told me to take paracetamol as well as diclofenac (which is roughly from the same group as Ibuprofen) - but it really DOES work when taken in combination with the other stuff, try it!

what really works

is if you take a couple at night with a glass of warm milk with honey or brown sugare and a generous slug of medicinal brandy sleep like a baby

which has always struck me as a daft expression seeing as everyone knows they wake up every 4 hours oh well you sleep like a log then :smt017

Trouble is that for quite a few years now, even the smallest amount of alcohol causes me a severe headache (this is not a hangover - it comes on very quickly)
It's a right PITA but I hardly touch the stuff any more - not unless I decide it justifies the more than probable pain that goes with it.

Sad thing Andy is you can't get out on the bike and you're missing the summer.
Round here Wednesday is "Bike Night".
The local bikers are all itching to get out to the regular haunts like Willingham Woods, South Leverton, Squires, etc., and every Wednesday it seems to bloody rain!
Originally the forecasts were good for Wednesday, but come today and Oh dear.
First we get a Met Office severe weather warning of severe thunderstorms and torrential rain from between 14:00hrs and 22:00hrs.
Today I was planning a flier and worked from home, and it was hot through to after lunch, then the dark clouds started coming over and it's looking like no chance, then a bit brighter and it's on again, repeat etc..
Then I thought bugger it I'm going, I'll probably get wet, as usual recently but I'll take the Kwack.
I'e just put a brand new front tyre on the Falco and given it a good clean, so I'll put that back in the garage.
Get my kit on and off to fill up at the local garage, and the clouds look really dark. Then a bloke on a Gixer and two other bikes go past towards Worksop and I think sod it I'm going. Two miles down the road at Lindrick it's raining, 4 miles down the A57 outside Worksop and most of the roundabout is flooded, get round on the shallow side near the middle, think "it looks brighter towards Newark, Ill go there".
Head out towards Ollerton, not now raining but deep standing water all over the place, so they've had it pretty bad. Then the rain starts again, I go through a little village in the Dukeries called Cubley, there is an old bus shelter that is quite large, inside are two bikers plus a Fazer and a Hornet, they give me a wave I respond, thinking why the feck am I not in there with them?
Carry on through Sherwood Forest towards Ollerton, rain is now even heavier, but think hey I can't get much wetter. There is a track leading into the woods, the bloke with the Gixer I saw earlier and his two mates are hiding under the trees, I give them a wave, they give me a funny look and wave back from under the trees.
Think again, should I be under there with them?
I think Newark might be better, but rain is getting heavier and it is blacker towards Newark, so I give up on that and head back North towards the A1.
The rain not as bad but getting covered in brown shite off the road, the Kwack is no longer silver.
Go up the A1 towards Bawtry, (think might be better out east towards Willingham). but doesn't look good out east, so turn back to Tickhill , and the rain stops briefly, so have chips sausage and gravy in a tray, (very tasty).
Stand outside at the side of the road to eat them, brown bike and I'm covered in road shite as well, people walk past and look at me as if I'm mad, out on a bike in this weather.
Head for home and it's finally dry, looks like it never rained. Have a run up the A57 towards Sheffield to try a and dry my Arlen Ness fabric jacket a bit, then head home and spend an hour cleaning the bike, and another 30 mins cleaning my kit.
Don't you just love summer ride outs!
Bet you're sorry you're stuck at home Andy. :smt009
Keep taking the pain killers and rest up whilst you can.
You ain't missing much! :smt001
