Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

The biggest issue is the bolt that holds it in place screws from the other side.Aladinsaneuk wrote:may come back to you on that one andy - am i correct in thinking you have done the fettling on a gixxer stand before?

Therefore, you drill out the thread so that the bolt can pass through the right way round.
Then you have to sort out a thread on the other side. Some have filled the old hole with weld and drilled and tapped it ... but it's easier to weld a nut to the back.
Then you need to drill a blind hole for the sidestand switch.
The other thing is the lug that the spring clips on to is closer to the pivot. The possible solutions are to use a shorter spring or cut off the lug and re-weld (that's hoe mine is).
You can also move the lug you push with your foot to deploy it - I've not bothered - I just kick the stand itself - it's easy enough.
More effort than the Blade stand (and I've never seen one of those on a Falco) - but of the ones I've seen, I think it does the best job

ok, we are collecting this on friday
just when the forecast is for snow - oh joy
we have found a white spring mille shock in good condition - am hoping it will just fit straight in.... if not it will be going off for a service and trim around the schrader valve
(Or can it be trimmed safely with out discharging?? i guess not but you never know....)
mods list to be done.... well nothing as yet - i think we may have sorted the sidestand.....
I think we may keep an eye out for some exhausts, and no, renegades are not required!
i will be sending that nice Mr Grace a pm in the near future about some cast off air filter kits he may have lying around
(Helps i sold him some stuff so..... i know what he has!)
possibly a double bubble screen?
possibly a belly pan?
think that is it....

I ended up trimming the Schrader valve 3 times before I got enough clearance, if you are very lucky it may just fit without catching first time, (so I was told), but I was not that lucky.
Fitted and tried as was, no joy, so took off again.
Didn't want to go for a big chunk straight away and risk losing gas so took a careful slice then tried again ................. finally OK on 3rd attempt.
Used a combination of a dremel cutter, small hacksaw and a file.
On the final attempt I also ended up cutting a chunk off the centre pin.
I could not have cut the valve any further at this stage.
The outside of the body almost touches the subtame now, which is good as there is no chance of fitting a cap, so being this close helps keep it clean!
The central pin is a mm or so lower, so cannot catch.
You can normally trim enough, but if you do go for a rebuild, have them fit a recessed valve, then you have no problems at all, as long as they can do this!
I have seen units with a recessed valve, just not sure how they do this as a retro fit, there is a possibility only certain workshops can do it.
Good luck with it!

I also had to do a bit of grinding on the stop of the bubseywoo stand. It fitted fine but didn't fold away quite as far as I would have liked, so this got ground away a bit so it fitted just nicely, (all this grinding and I don't even have an angle grinder, unlike some people!).Aladinsaneuk wrote:thanks howard
and bubseywoo stand acquired along with some radiator grill covers
Just used a drill and a small rotary grinding wheel.
Otherwise mine has been very good as your's seems to have been.
