As Sam has been in and mainly out of lucidity (?) I did pass your messages on very quickly and as best I could. Bearing in mind he's very drugged up I did get a lovely quick beaming smile in acknowledgement. One of the things that brought tears to my eyes today. I know he's very fond of the Site and all those who frequent it, so please do take that as a Thankyou from him. He especially grinned at the JD comment..

It's a case of waiting for the inevitable to occur really, so if Im absent for a while then accept my apologies.

Mum has said when the time comes that there will be a quiet family service no wake as such, however agreed it would be wrong not to hear at least a couple of bikes. That's for future worrying about though. I've still got to find an MCN trackday guide for behind the pearly gates for him as yet and he's still got to book it.

Thanks Kerry. :smt001

I was thinking back on Sam's life to date (that im aware of at least) and when he does pass, I think any headstone he might have should bear the following:

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”
-Hunter S. Thompson,

He's never really done anything halfheartedly..

Silly things keep popping into my head too, like how the hell will Jack Daniels' keep going when Sam's gone..

You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Glad that RS made him smile! Give him my very best love if there's an appropriate time.

And I'm sure that at another appropriate time there will be a rideout or even a rally in his honour - JD Rally maybe!

Tim, you know where I am

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

He's had a unsettled morning, left just after dinner when he eventually seemed to be settling to sleep. His doctor and nurses have said he seems more unsettled at night when im not there so Ive had the afternoon sealing the conservatory a bit, then i'm back up the hossie to see what gives with the night shift. Theyre upping his medication tonight to see if that takes the edge off it.
Theyve also mentioned how strong he is.. and how (like becky was) the drugs they give him dont even scratch the surface.
They say strong, all I hear is stubborn!! Bless him. If he'd been a racer, he wouldve made Barry Sheene look tame.

He's a stubborn old goat.

He WAS on this 'pathway' process to get to the other side, but there must have been a hairpin, as he's clearly come off.. :smt011

He medically/mentally kinda limped back to the paddock, sat down had a breather and a fag and is now back to his old self. He's still cancerous and probably cantankerous, but the horribly bad and tremendously taxing eposide he was going thru is over so it seems and he's recovered suitably from his (genuine) deathbed to the point that theyre on about releasing the inmate back on to the public.. well at least to home.

We shall see.. things to sort out before then with macmillan and people like that.

Anyhow, if you prayed for him, It seems to have worked, if you sent love, it seems to have worked, if you've bought him JD's in the past, that too seems to have worked.. if you sat there and gave it 'the old git has life in him yet, you just watch..' then yes, you were right too! Thanks to each and every one of you.

We'll see how it goes with the old sod, but i'd not bat an eyelid if he materialised back on the site at some stage to claim those JD's.. :smt001
