Well, thanks for all your input, peeps. Much appreciated, and yes, I do appreciate the potential for humour in this situation. However, I must admit to a little trepidation at the prospect of imbibing four litres of weapons-grade laxative over 18 hours.

Having had a similar, though lesser, procedure inflicted on my bum-hole twice in the past, I'm not overly concerned by the practicalities of what's to be done to me (although I know it won't be pleasant). But I wonder what accolade I'll come away on this occasion - last time, the gastroenterologist's parting comment was "Oh, by the way, Mr. Senior, you have an excellent sphincter".

Good luck with it Mark, hope it all goes OK.
I've only ever had cameras going in the other way (gastroscopy), about 8 if I remember correctly, but they were quite some time ago, in the days before they started using fibre optics, so there was quite a bit to swallow, and a hell of a sore throat afterwards.

Let's get word out to Japan that the seismometers may be recording something other than another aftershock ......

However any ensuing "tsunami" should definitely be avoided

This may not be the moment to tell you that after I starved myself then took The Stuff - the hospital cancelled the appointment and I had to do it all again!

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
