Announcement:
I'd just like to point out that this is in an area of the forum I don't moderate.
I would also like to say, please keep it here so that I am absolved from any responsibility and all peacekeeping duties.
Thank you for your kind attention

Why would you want to moderate, or a more accurate description, censor, posts on a public forum? As far as I can remember we live in a democracy that holds freedom of speech both verbal and written, as sacrosanct.
I consider it a shame that riders on this forum dont have more to say on the Evangilism of Rospa and the IAM. I was merely trying to start a debate. I can now sadly see my attempts have been futile.

Ive always shied away from any of the 'advanced motoring brigade' to be honest. I'd rather sit down and read one of Keith Code's books and then go out and ride my own ride, taking note of what I had read. Advanced Motoring (of all forms) is a bit like an MOT test. Have it done in one place, theyll say one thing, go somewhere else theyll say another. Its all good furthering of the old education and all that, but so is reading books then putting it into practise. Its no different. Youre still the one holding the handlebars interpreting what you have been told

Re: NetRoADAR - Essex
Unfortunately work commitments kept me away from this presentation, which i had been looking forward to for a few months.T.C. wrote:Last night I gave a presentation to the advanced group NetRoADAR who are based in Harlow in Essex.
If anyone from this part of the country is considering advanced training, then you could do a lot worse. Really friendly bunch of people, superb facilities and a nice atmosphere with a good cross section of ages.
If anyone from the group is reading this, then thanks for the welcome, I really appreciated and enjoyed it
I have spoken to a few people and have been told that it was a well presented and interesting evening.
I have been asked to pass on our sincere thanks to T.C who has given his time and expertice up voluntarilly.
Maybe if there is a revisit in the future i will attend that one.

Sam B........ Ooops sorry

Would you care to elaborate, please? Just curious - not involved with either.Samray wrote:Oh! Now that is contentious and mebbe worthy of debate, mentioning Rospa and the IAM in the same sentence.

Just to be clear, I have never deleted a post (other than my own) nor modified anyone's post (other than fixing broken links etc).scorpio24v wrote:Why would you want to moderate, or a more accurate description, censor, posts on a public forum? Seldom have I PMd people to stop things getting out of hand (about once TBH).
It's not normally necessary and no one wants to stifle healthy debate.
There are ways of debating that are less inflammatory than others - and normally we discuss within these.

Isn't that verging on the smug?scorpio24v wrote: However, I find that the local groups membership is largely filled with evangelists who wear sam browne belts and tut at the mere mention of "Offsiding" and appear smug as they think know what the limit point is, but get confused when I mention what they actually mean is "limit point analysis".
If it prevents them from becoming a statistic, then all well and good, but I do my riding solo.

Kneescratch, pleased to hear your colleagues enjoyed it and found it worthwhile

I would like to second the thanks that kneescratch posted.
TC's presentation was informative and interesting, and I know for a fact that most of us learnt something new, the day I stop learning is the day I hand in my bike keys and get myself something like a Scorpio 24v!:smt002
Our Group seems to have a lower average age than the average RoSPA Group, and hardly anyone wears a Sam Browne belt, cardigan, flat cap or smokes a pipe
