I'll be on the bus or the scoot cos I am a wimp and I really dont want to bounce the rappy again. If the scoot goes down I can pick it up on my own

A couple of years ago I got caught in a light shower on an otherwise sunny crisp winters day whilst riding my immaculte GPz 750.

Despite lots of hot soapy water on my return home, the polished rims turned furry overnight and were never the same again.
Sorry mate but you always need to wash the salt off with cold water first!
Forgot the exact reason but it does work, I think with the hot water it tends to disolve more salt and soak into every nook and cranny, where you can never get it out, so it does much more damage.
I ride all year round, but try to avoid wet salty roads whenever I can. I do enjoy cold dry winter roads as they are often pretty empty!

I am - arrived at work slightly damp, no choice though as the Missus needs the car - on the plus side though I'm off to Micheldever Tyres later on to get me some brand new Pilot Road 2s!

Not on the bike today, not when it's going to be 37 degrees C...

(And they're forecasting 39C for tomorrow, too!)
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.
