My opinion is that regular, moderate exercise is good for you and as well as consuming calories directly, changes the way the body processes food.
If you have a dog walk it, Cycle or whatever. I don't think it matters so long as you do some regularly.

There is also an old saying that "you are what you eat". Like Bikergran we have an organic vegi box delivered and you have to wash that stuff thoroughly or get mud in your teeth. I've been a vegi for 35 years or so but recently have started to eat some fish to help combat encroaching senility and the creaking of my joints.

I also reckon over and above the general benefit of less weight to haul around, exercise can improve your ability to ride a bike.

Certainly flexibility in the hips helps balance and weight transfer. Any one interested in some deviant routines that'll benefit your ridding? I see WSB and MotoGp riders doing similar all the time and I wish I had been aware of it when I was racing. Back then I thought press-ups were the thing and was oblivious to the benefits of hip flexibility.....
