I had a Skoda Octavia estate a few years back. Good no nonsense mile muncher.

There was a time when I would have paid the premium for a proper VW to gain the enhanced residual value despite the unquestionable improvement in Skodas over the years. I'm not so sure now...... :smt017

I have an elderly Octavia saloon TDI, too old to have been manipulated by some tosser in front of a lap top looking to cheat the system, very good car btw

That's a thought - my brother had an Octavia for so many years it owed him nothing when it finally went out with a bang (the engine that was).

TBH since I posted I've done some more looking and tbh I have to agree with Pete - it's a great car, ergonomically it suits me perfectly, so I reckon it's worth putting a bit of cash into it.

Though I spose I still need to think about which way to go if the worst happens......
