This is what he replied after I offered to drive to inverness-shire with the cash.

The bike is still for sale. All paperwork present. I do not reside in Inverness, we are based in Warsaw, Poland. I will get somebody to bring it to you if you decide to buy it but we have to close the deal through eBay. My friend is not in Inverness and will be traveling from a distance so I must be sure and not put him on the road based on words, no one would, because we have no one in Inverness.

Delivery can be arranged in 3-5 days and you will have the chance to inspect it before I get paid, only if we go through PayPal as well. We will use PayPal - Pay After Delivery which gives you 14 days for the bike to be delivered before any funds are released to me. PayPal will securely hold the funds. Please read below about PayPal (Pay after delivery).

https://www.paypal.co.uk/pay-after-delivery-more/

Everything is covered by eBay, they will keep your money secured during the inspection period. This purchase protection guarantees that the bike is exactly as I described it; basically, once delivered, you'll have 5-7 days to inspect it and if you decide not to keep it you will get refunded in no time and they will charge me with the return costs. I will get paid only after you confirm that you received the bike in good order.

If you like it, let me know your ebay user id, paypal email along with a phone number and your name, address where it must be delivered so i can register the sale with ebay to proceed.

If you will decide to not go through now then is not a problem I still quite have a few more offers from potential buyers. Hopefully, I made myself understood and we will be closing the deal. I look forward to hearing from you soon

Thanks
Anna & Ian Whittley

Presumably it's an import? We knew them as an RD500LC, didn't we? Looks lovely though - I remember lusting after one of them so hard it hurt when they first came out.

"Anna & Ian Whittley" sounds British but there's something about the wording of that doesn't sound British to me. I still think it smells. That's an awful lot of money to expect someone to pay without seeing the bike.

I agree with Bobbi, the wording is suss. They also say it's a brother's bike, who has died, but they're talking about all the work they did, stripping the fairing off to clean it up.

No V5 in the photos, also all of the MOTs are done in Taunton, except the last one done in Somerset. Which ain't in Scotland, last I knew...

HPI check?

Also, how does ebay feature in this? This looks like you're negotiating privately, so only Paypal would feature in the sale?

Something doesn't add up.

Nick, you know you can get a much newer, powerful, safer and more reliable bike for that kind of money :smt002

scam

We nearly got caught by something similar, wanting to use Google wallet

Suggest you contact trading standards or paypal - if it walks like a duck ......

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

None of this adds up...
The bike is spanking but way too cheap, why is it not advertised in the usual bike mags as it will surely be snapped up ?
The seller seems to be adopting an odd stance,'It was my poor dead brother's bike, I know very little about it apart from the exact mileage an it was never ridden in the rain and the previous owner decided 'it was'nt for him'
Utter bullshit... You buy a bike like this because it,s an investment and/or its a mental bit of kit.
If I was trying to sell a classic bike like this I would do so through conventional channels, knowing it will sell.
Sorry,it just fucking stinks of scam

Sad, but best to find out this way.
Was always too good to be true, but would have been a really nice toy if genuine.
Just have to suffer on with Falco I suppose.

The guy allegedly has loads of bikes, many of them classics, for sale and all at knock-down prices. A 1950 Vincent Comet for £7600, anyone?

I wouldn't touch it with your bargepole...

My brother lives in Inverness. Could ask him to pop round to make sure all is as it seems? Or I'll go up. It's been a while since I've seen the little twat. :smt003
