the motor left the UK in fine fettle, a bike shop in Bristol that rebuilt the bottom end will testify to that effect
All in all a major drama for £300, no way am I giving in to a blagger

WTF from what little I know of these type of things having looked into issuing county court papers against someone my understanding is that he has to apply ro have the case in your local court and decide the specific grounds for the claim. So for example I defended myself in one once and it was decided that the point of law, or whatever, was whether a contract existed.
I would just tell em to fek off he can Claim all he wants but at some point it becomes malicious also in uk trade law there are factors about time et c
