Sporting Chance or Sporting Choice

#1 Post by flatlander » Tue Jul 05, 2011 12:37 pm

Ok just wondering what other sports other than bike related people are into if at all ? Whether a s aspectator or as a participant.

I for example use them as a bit of an excuse for going somewhere for example I go to Barcelona regularly to watch the football and normally arrange a couple of trips a year for mates to do the same.

In my case I try to use it as an excuse to go on the bike every so often hence I get double payback :smt002
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

Dunno if it's classed as a 'sport' but I like to shoot holes in the ground with my English Longbow. :smt001
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

I'm a season ticket holder at Coventry City (dunno why!) though have supported a proper club for much longer.

I used to play footee, I used to swim a lot and was pretty good, canoeing, sailing and rowing are other things I used to do regularly before i moved to Coventry.
Was pretty handy at table-tennis too.

TBH I enjoy many sports.

I suppose it's different to bikes..a bit.. I sometimes dabble with scooters (lambrettas and vespas) however the Lammy chop in the garage hasnt progressed at all since i bought the frtame, engine and a few other parts!! I was going to return to racing via a p200 vespa I had however coulnt find the time to commit to it. Might still do it in the future.
Other than that? I sometimes do a bit of geocaching, mainly for a laugh than as a serious sport
Oh and I support Norwich City FC

Competitive sport bores the crap out of me, only watch bike racing cos it's bikes. I like clay shooting, not cos it's sporting, just cos I like blowing stuff up.

Used to do a lot, but not that much recently. Used to do a lot of windsurfing, bit of jiu-jitsu while at uni, played football & rugby when I was younger. Recently started MTB'ing again which I'm really enjoying, and running (which I flippin' hate, but it's a means to an end)

Not a fan of watching much of anything - watch the 6 Nations and MotoGP, but's that's it.

So far we need to organise a bike trip to Barcvel0na stoppingoff at Agincourt, avoiding Coventry of course and making sure that the six nations or one of the Rugby teams personally I would like to see the Catalan Dragons at home, and going via a l;ake with an activities centre and the Submarine pens ... well they used to blow stuff up :smt002 ... anything I missed ?

Been into bikes for 40 odd years.
Sadly I am also a Sheffield Wednesday fan, but don't hold that against me, I was born that way.
Got out of bikes for a while and did this for some years a long time ago -

The car is a clue how long ago, my Escort Twin Cam Mk 1.

Always liked watching most sports.
Done photography for many years as well, just for fun.

Been back with bikes for ages now, and that's about it recently,
owning them, messing with them, riding them and watching bike racing on telly and live when I can.
Pretty dull really.

Played football at a reasonable level until my late 30's then played in the various veterans leagues, still play occassionally. I do a lot of cycling these days - keeps me fit and after all it is on two wheels.
