What is becoming of our Police?

#1 Post by D-Rider » Thu Nov 12, 2009 11:13 am

Following the shabby treatment that mrapriliafalco has been receiving from the police https://www.ridersite.com/viewtopic.php?t=5258 (a saga that develops through that thread), I thought it interesting to receive the following email today at work - circulated by one of our admin team.

Maybe it's just me and my cynical view, but I'm not entirely convinced that if it was my bag or yours that was stolen, they would be devoting the same level of resource to investigating this crime.

One rule for some, another for others it seems.
email received (name obscured by me) wrote:A Police Officer D**** G***** called to site today.

Police officer D**** G***** was staying at the Hilton Hotel on the 29th October 2009

Between 20.00 hours and 21.00 hours on the 29th Police Officer D**** G***** had a black flight bag on wheels
(with the Swiss army knife symbol) stolen out of his room.

If anyone has seen a bag that fits the above description discarded in the area or seen anything which might
lead to helping with his enquiries please contact me and I will pass on the information.
I'm certainly not saying every policeman will treat people badly or will prioritise things that happen to themselves but there seems to be too much of it about.

If you were a bike mechanic ............would you let some other mechanic fettle your trusty steed or would you do it yourself to ensure it got done right?

Methinks the cop who got his bag robbed is checking his own valve clearances. :smt003

.... and there's no problem if he's doing that in his own time as a private individual ... but clearly that's not the case .... "a Police officer called at the site ..."
The police officer this, the police officer that ... he was clearly identifying himself as a Police Officer and this being police business.

If it wasn't official police business then he was at very least abusing his position.

maybe he was looking for lodge members?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

If a police officer reports a criume against himself he will very probably be made oic (officer in charge of the case) in which case he would be required to make enquiries. Simples!

If a cop knows a crime has been committed .....against him or someone else he has a duty to investigate it ,if he has been allocated the crime report or not.....as long as he isnt doing anything beyond legal proceedure then he isnt 'abusing' his position.Making some enquiries into a theft is kinda bread and butter day to day life for a cop.

Good luck to him .......given the circumstances I doubt this was a one off opportunist crime and there could be other victims ,I dont think they would be too annoyed if the thief got caught .

.... as in enquiries that would almost certainly not be made if it was one of us that had our bag nicked from a hotel room ....

Maybe I'm just cynical

... and why don't they leave the word "in" in full when abbreviating Officer In Charge .... Oinc would seem to fit the Bill ...........

The officer called in and asked if anyone had seen his bag? Someone then circulated that by email either off their own back or as he had asked?

:smt017 When I lost something I reported it at the place I'd been and thought i had lost it at.

Kinda normal?

The use of 'with his enquiries' could just be a play on words by someone who thought it the right thing to say as Police Officers always ask that on TV.

I blame Crimewatch.

Though unless I'm now working at a hotel, it wasn't the place he'd lost it - or he'd even been to ...

Never mind - obviously it's just my experience that when things get stolen from ordinary people's homes there is very little done about it (and probably little that can be done).

I'll shut up now as I seem to have upset more than enough people today.

It's a prototype Light-Sabre .... the police were the first to try them (though the early ones didn't light up) .... hence the phrase "May the Force be with you" ......

My young 'un got set upon by 4 bullies on the way back from school last night - luckily a parent stopped them from beating him up too badly & stealing his phone & helped him home.

Nearly 24 hours later, I'm STILL waiting for one of Lincolnshire's finest to show up to take a statement

Apparently an 'emergency' came up ........fecking pizza delivery van broke down more likely..& they had to send the squad car out to colect the takeaway .

Useless, bone idle bunch of cnuts :smt013 :smt013
