Lasy year on holiday in Yorkshire we went to a gastropub where the food was fabulous! ...when it finally arrived.

We hadn't booked so a half hour wait for a table was ok - only it was nearly an hour, and they didn't mention the fact that we'd have to wait another half hour for the order to be taken so by the time the food came...

The main cousr was truly wonderful, best I've had for years - I expect the sweet would have been great too but the waitress left the menu with us and was so long we decided to go straight to the coffee - didn't get that either cos she never came back.

Went to the bar to pay and we were asked if everything had been alright for us so I told her the main course was great but I couldn't say about the pud as we never got any - and she said 'Oh - did you have room for one?'

Well yes - that was rather why we asked for the menu!

So I can't recommend The Copper Horse in Seamer, Scarborough, North Yorkshire.

lol, didn't hear any ghostly footsteps..........did see a body in the snow on the verge outside though one morning on the way past in the bus......... wasn't there when I went home in the evening so it either

wasn't there in the first place
someone noticed it and did something
they slept their hangover off and walked home eventually

Yorkshire pubs are odd places BG. We once had a meal where the owner of the pub stood at the bar smoking then went and collected our food and served us stinking of cigarettes. ICK.

Maybe I'm too fussy but the places that have disappointed me far outweigh the good ones :smt012 s My particular bug bear being cutlery and glasses. If they ain't spotless they go back and I ask for clean ones. But then I also ask the staff in Tescos/Asdas etc to wash their hands before they pick up any fresh food I'm buying. Maybe it's me that's the problem

Thought this post was about Valentines Day, :smt017
Didn't know we had moved on to slag off Yorkies Day.
Personally I've had a lot more problems of this type outside Yorkshire, with London being the worst of the lot! There they have this wonderful situation where they often give crap service but then charge anything up to 10 times what would you would expect pay out in the "sticks".
We do tend to be cheap and cheerful up here, except for the gastro pubs normally run by escapees from down south, who have moved up here to bring us some "Southern Culture" to the northern plebs.

Was that in the days when you could sit and eat whilst surrounded by smoke .... from other paying customers... least he wasn't at the next table to you :smt002

Have to say being part Yorkshire, when I visit the rellies, the meals have been some of the best I've had. Scotland needs some decent Gastro pubs up here, we just don't seem to have the same idea about pub meals here... and all you Scots can get off my back... you know its true :smt003

I wonder if that was a coincidence or if someone had a keen sense of humour. :smt003

Yep, I guess it was one of those!

I should have made it clear I wasn't Yorkie-bashing, everything else about our holiday was great -apart from the weather, but then Yorkshire is in England and I suppose it's unreasonable to go camping in August and expect a gleam of sun now and then? (Oh except for Pickering, it seems the sun always shines there!) We were actually amazed by the (low) prices for eating and drinking - and the fish and chips in the village near where we stayed were wonderful!
