Who's haggising?

#1 Post by Paulh » Fri Jan 25, 2008 6:07 pm

Thought I'd try the supposed Scottish delicacy tonight as it some poets day apparently.

I've not had it for years (some B&B in Ft William I think), and reading the ingredients is making me a bit uneasy - hopefully I'll survive to tell the tale if I wash it down with a bit of booze.

Anyone else risking it tonight, or is it best left to the jocks?

Turnips are white, swedes are yellow, neeps are white. There is a clue in there :smt001

Apparently the turnips are faster. :smt002

Damn - I've just painted the bike red.

Anyway, enjoyed the haggis - might do it again next year.

Do they sell the things all year north of the border or are they just for tourists?

Unsurprisingly, you can get them all year round, deep fried from the local chippy. (Don't know whether to laugh or cry!!!)

Seriously, you can get a proper haggis from any decent butcher or supermarket any time. Not that I'm necessarily recommending it!!! :smt002

Well.....don't know about your poetry Gio but don't be so hard on yourself.

You can get haggis all over the UK at any time of the year, there is also a veggie version or if you are a connoisseur then you can mail order some really nice ones. :smt023
