Ultra secure CC.

#1 Post by Samray » Wed Oct 03, 2007 10:46 am

I was signing the receipt for my credit card purchase when the cashier noticed I had never signed my name on the back of the credit card. She informed me that she could not complete the transaction unless the card was signed.

When I asked why, she explained that it was necessary to compare the signature I had just signed on the receipt. So I signed the credit card in front of her. She carefully compared the signature to the one I had just signed on the receipt.

As luck would have it, they matched.

From a security point of view this is, of course, crazy.

From her point of view, her arse is covered - the signature on the slip does indeed match the one on the card.

..... and it has ensured that you've at last complied with the credit card company's rule that you must sign the card - meaning that if you loose it, someone else cannot now sign it with their version of your signature.
She's done you a favour.
