Absolutely brilliant news Kwacks!
It does give you some confidence again that ordinary people can infuence decisions. Best thing is the 17-0 result in the Planning Committee seems to indicate the the 43,000 peolple who voted have shamed the locals into seeing some sense.
Let's all hope that this facility helps the ex servicemen in this area and is also used as an example for similar units in other parts of the country.
Well done mate!

That is good news.

Those recovering from serious illness or injury and their families need all the support they can get. I think the same would be equally true for a facility for the general population - and would probably receive similar fatuous complaints from the NIMBYs.

Glad this won so convincingly - the politicians have got something right - Is the bar open?

well no, I was being kinda serious, does it give them permission that has been denied in the past to apply for what they want now?

PS you did see the news report where one woman especially whined cos she had been refused planning permission?

You lot took the brunt of an underlying bitch/whine situation at first IMO!

:smt001 The planning meeting was very... emotional.. 4 abstainers from the vote at the end. It was passed with conditions, that the property was to be returned to a single family dwelling after.
It was passed as an exceptional case, so those that follow cannot use it as a foot in the door for anything they may wish to do. That was made clear during the course of the meeting.

On the subject of the road and traffic, 'I think the residents need to get out more' was one of the best comments to come from a councillor.

We were accused of intimidation (MOI!!? :smt002 ** ) and there were complaints of bullying.. these were unsupported apart from one woman. They couldnt pinpoint the nasty person in question but I assume it was simply a fuggin oooge Para or similar simply standing there trying to be sweet and put his case across. A misunderstanding.

One councillor didnt like the monkey on a display board bike that rode round the place with the posters on it. proof that that worked then! :smt005

** not me personally.. :smt001
