everybody thinks that the queen has no powers - actually, she still does have some, and they have been exercised..... she has on a couple of occassions refused to sign acts of parliament, as they would go against her coronation oath - they acts were then changed to allow her to sign the acts
I personally found that interesting - as i also find it interesting that charles has openly spoken about some of his views, and the politicians really did not like that... shades of "To Play the King", follow up to House of Cards :)

I think that Brown's first cabinet will be interesting - I suspect that he will try to bring in some people from outside the party to have an effective coalition government, that would be very hard to topple in an election
