I wondered about this and the phone lock on my old iPhone and came up with the following solution, for my lock screen:

I figure any extra info in an emergency, for such little work is worth it.

I did wonder about adding blood group as well but we'll see....

That's a very good idea! I already have a dog tag with my blood group on it from my brief flirtation with racing but a medic once told me that they would not act on blood group information without checking it for themselves. Does anyone know if that's the case or not?

Wouldn't know my blood group (other than "red")

How would you find this out anyway?

There was a scheme for putting medical info on some sort of memory stick/card but I was told by medical friends that hospitals wouldn't allow any 'foreign' memory anywhere near their computers for fear of introducing a virus which might crash the system or render it unuseable in some way. Seems eminently sensible to me cos you can bet someone would do it!

The blood group thing can be determined easily, it becomes an issue if you have a rare group, then matching that group becomes as difficult as finding decent coffee in any NHS premises.
I think I will have a stainless steel plaque engraved and fitted to my jacket.....

Filter coffee only, mere splash of milk,no sugar.
allerigic to penicillin
Ceoliac/ strictly gluten free
Blood group must contain Premium European Lager
Dont even think about removing any of my bits
My body has been a playground so any potential donor recipient is in for some fucking big surprise

Yes - you only need date of birth and name on a dog tag for racing (ACU regs) - blood group not a requirement, and medics will never look for blood group info on it.

Full reasons explained by Bemsee medics on here

Thanks Paulh; that answers my question. I should have said that my dog tag dates from around 1978!

In an emergency O neg is given - that's universal blood

BUT

That's quite unusual now - a group and save + cross match can be done quickly and in the mean time plasma expanders are often used

The idea of tattooing a blood group is problematic - the SS. Did it so many folk are opposed to that idea.....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Maybe this is a generational thing, but the assumption underlying all the ICE suggestions above is that you always carry your mobile phone. I dont. Mostly because I forget TBH

Our local ROSPA have a system of a green adhesive dot stuck to the outside of your helmet indicating that there is a card inside the helmet lining giving your ICE details. I never forget to take my helmet.

But I wonder whether emergency services outside your area know what the green dot means?

so we're back to dog tags then.
Any first responder would check your airways, probably loosening your chistrap and jacket and finding the dog tag
