Well a set of them at any rate
Today I will be riding behind a hearse - with a few others from Ridersite, as we pay our respects to Phil / Samray
I guess the real thing is - I do not do funerals... professionally I see to many of them! and even though I should be used to it, I detest funerals
But Sam's affair is different.
I was not personally close - we only met a couple of years ago, but we got on - indeed we chatted about all sorts of bollocks! But, he was a genuine guy and that is rare in this world. Again professionally, I was caught here - I could not, should not and would not get involved professionally, but as a mate - i was just one of the guys who popped in and said hi....
Sam was also a very brave man - I have nursed many people, and the quiet stoical way he just carried on was wonderful to enjoy together - my opening line was invariably along the lines of "not dead yet then" his retort was generally "Didn't want to give you the satisfaction...."
so, a gent in my eyes - but also in many others - we have all seen here how many people have posted and what they have had to say - i know I am not the only one who has had the odd speck of sentiment in an eye
I will miss the old bugger - his smile and his approach to life
I do not speak just for myself - on behalf of all us admin types - may the road ahead be adventurous, challenging and police free... and may it lead to a good bar with some decent action with friends already getting the Jack in for when you arrive

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
Thanks Pete. Nicely put
Today as a mark of respect for Phil, I've run the Falco without baffles (for the first time ever).
Please listen out for any tapping from inside the hearse - the sound is loud enough to wake many of those who have gone before us ......
I'm pretty sure he'd be smiling.

My belated two-penn'orth.
I was glad to be able to contribute, in a small way, to this au revoir; although I only spent a couple of weekends in his company, and exchanged the odd message with him, I like to think those contacts enriched my life. Having read the posts here from those who knew him better, and heard Tim's moving valediction, it is true to say, I believe, Sam touched the lives of many, and made them better.
See you around, old chap.

I too, feel honoured, to have been part of his farewell ride out.
Tim's eulogy was moving and gave me a little insight to what I have missed out on(never having met phil).
Ride free and enjoy phil.
