#1 Post by kneescratch » Sun Dec 11, 2011 11:49 pm

Has anyone thought about track days for next year yet?

If so where and when are you thinking about?

Aye, not sure when exactly but as I've moved to Lincolnshire (just - its more Rutland if it still existed) I'm looking to do those within spitting distance so Rockingham/Cadwell/Mallory and poss a little jaunt over to Silverstone. What are you looking at? Could meet up?

I did 20mins taster at Bedford Areodrome in Oct and fancy going back for full day...it's very flat but a long track, and ran in an anti-clockwise direction, Mallory is only 5 miles away so may do one there although it's a bit limited they do one that specilises in cornering/knee down!

Whatever, it will be a Novice only session and more than likely with Club MSV, can recommend them, also a friend did a full day with them at Oulton Park

Oulton Park is absolutely brilliant. I have a part share of a track prepped Golf GTi and we always head to Oulton (happens to be 5 mins from my mates house). Elevation changes, twist and turns and nice and wide, superb fun and the facilities are excellent too.

Yes, I love Oulton, too. But I think what they've done with the new chicane that emasculates Knickerbrook is a crime agains humanity. That was a proper bottle corner.

Now I live in Sheffield, Cadwell is reasonably close so I could definitely be persuaded to do a Track day there. Plenty of elevation changes and nadgeriness and (as long as it's the full circuit) great fun as well.

I like Rockingham.
Done Cadwell and Mallory too and i like both of them :smt003

Cadwell for me is just too far and an overnight stay the night before is the best way i think..

Mallory is just reachable with an early start, makes for a long day though. (but worth it)

Fancy doing one or two of these tracks just not sure which yet, or on what dates either to be honest. (pretty useless bit of information really)

Will let you know what i'm doing in a month or two and a meet up would be cool!! :smt004

I will keep you posted on prices and who is running the session...
Definatly a basic session for me too though, i tend to find when you ring up they ask how many sessions you have done before and grade you accordingly :smt002

Focussed Events are at Mallory in 2 weeks time and then again a fortnight later.

Being as it's so close I might be tempted myself .... if it wasn't so expensive and there was no risk of binning my bike ....
