Had a track day at Mallory Park on thursday, and what a day it was.
It was the first track day of the year for me and i was put in the fast group and it is exactly that, fast.....
I was on my new Hayaybusa (only had it for a few weeks) and although not an ideal track bike i was really impressed with the way it handled and there is power on tap.Was approx 140-145mph on the start/finish straight, then into Gerrards, but they have put a really small chicane at the end of Gerrards which was quite bizzare.(i think they put it in for some car racing and left it in for this event)
Anyway there were 8 off's but i somehow managed to stay rubber side down
The weather was cold and never got above 6 degrees so not to much heat in the tyres.
Got the juices going now, want to book another one
Should have some pics soon

It's called Edwinas (spelling?) and was put in to slow people down along the back. Something to do with the ACU and BSB using it. Also makes it a little more interesting.

No Willopotomas Edwina's is after Stebbe Straight.
This chicane thing is before the end of Gerrards.
Right, if you know Gerrards if your on the correct line you will pass through two patch repairs on the tarmac. Well these repairs are setting you up for the final apex, but there was a chicane put in place on the exit of Gerrards
There was a painted island (only small) with a turf centre, then a chicane to put you on the Stebbe Straight onto Edwina's
Different............

Must have been Sam..
I have only been to Mallory once before and had no idea "Charlie's" was there as we used the full extent of Gerrards.
Although entry speed into Gerrards is not affected it ruins the rest of the bend, IMO.
Although it was brilliant fun anyway.

What is it with these nanny f*ckwits? Can't they just leave well enough alone? Gerrards is a real one-off corner, to my knowledge there's nothing else like it. So what do they do? Totally emasculate the corner that probably symbolises Mallory.
I was just as annoyed when they f*cked about with Knickerbrook at Oulton Park. Ruin the circuit, why don't you?

Charlies has been there for a long while now.
I've only ever done one track session - that was one single novice session (not the several sessions of a whole track day) and that was at Mallory.
I really liked from Charleys round to the exit of the Bus stop (except we weren't allowed to overtake in corners and I was getting held up through Charleys and Edwinas and the hairpin by people that can't corner.
Never figured out the devils elbow and particularly Gerrards - think my mistake was that I was trying to figure out "the" line through it ... but as it goes on for ever there is no specific line - just an infinite number of parallel lines.
Maybe with a few more laps I'd have figured it out.
That said, I think I found that the road is more fun (and cheaper than paying to ride on a track)

Fair enough; the last time I rode Mallory was on my TL1000S, and I sold that in 1999...
It does annoy me the way all these old circuits are sprouting poxy little chicanes, though...
