Last year I commented in a discussion on Facebook that Rossi is past his best (not that he was no good or wouldn't ever win again - just beyond his best) and was vehemently taken to task!
I stick with what I said then ..... and feel the evidence continues to support that view.

He's riding a Ducati.

THATS the problem. A chance of a thoroughbred bike with racing pedigree and what does he do? Chooses to ride a big red 46 bus.

Shouldve gone to Aprilia who wouldve bent over backwards to provide him with a credible MotoGP bike or Yamaha or...

Certainly was one of, if not THE greatest rider ever.

But now, just not as good as he was.

Ducati is part of the problem but he's consistently behind his team mate, swaps places with the other Ducati riders and today was even having to mix it with claiming-rule bikes.
The legendary Rossi/Burgess partnership seems to have come off the rails.
I hope he gets back on them again - it would be sad to see him go out in the current circumstances.
I think he is pretty much stuck with Ducati - he's burned his bridges with just about every other manufacturer.

To be fair, different bike/rider combination - but yes, I thought of that too.

Didn't Vale fail to get along with a Duc in a previous association?

The Duc wasnt / isnt a problem for someone else, but..

Vale moulds a machine to his spec, not normally the other way round.

I feel this time he's having to have the machine as they dictate and he suit the machine rather than the other way. A big bit of his contract is around developing roadbikes via what he does, so if Ducrapi want to build alloy/ composite/ carbon swingarms for their roadbikes, he's got to like it and lump it nd be seen to use that type of component on the MotoGP bike, which is wholly unlike his other manufacturers have been.. and it doesnt suit him one bit!

Might be wrong but thats the way i see it.

I'm with Kwack there, fact is Ducati are to political to allow any rider to dictate. Bit like Ferrari tbo, ah well i never did like Farts (fiat) pile of crap.

Asfor past his best, no way, he's made the other riders react to his dominance.

I liked todays result tho, shame that Cal didn't get past the dumb dago in 3rd.

I'd have loved to see Cal on the podium, but Dani is neither dumb nor a dago. He's a smart cookie, bloody quick and certainly doesn't deserve the epithets you see fit to use.
