Obviously going to be out for a long time .... Best Wishes to him for a good recovery.
Certainly that must be his championship over for this year
(not helping my fantasy league either) - Lorrenzo must now be odds on.

Incredibly it's the first time he has broken anything! MotoGP won't be the same without him - and it seems all the racers feel the same evn tho it gives them a better chance.

Rossi could be back quicker than we expected ...... rumoured he is testing today at Brno on Toseland's bike .....
TwoWheelsBlog has gotten word that Rossi will be testing yet again, this time on James Toseland’s YZF-R1 at Brno tomorrow (Monday), as the Italian continues to gauge his progress to physical recovery. Keen to get back to racing, and save MotoGP from its plummeting ratings since his departure, Rossi has called for a press conference immediately following that day’s testing session, where he’s expected to announce his thoughts on racing next weekend at the German GP. A&R also expects Rossi to make the biggest announcement in MotoGP history on Monday as well.

So the Brno ride did happen:
Valentino Rossi completed 46 laps (fitting, ehh?), over multiple sessions, at Brno today. Rossi used a Yamaha YZF-R1 that was provided by the Yamaha World Superbike Team, and much to Crutchlow and Toseland’s dismay, Rossi took the WSBK R1 around Brno with a best time of 1′59.135, which is*quicker than both Yamaha WSBK riders did in last weekend’s races.
Many outlets are comparing this time to race times at Brno, but a more analogus comparison would be to the qualifying times from this weekend (Editor’s Note: Lap records are only counted during races).*Compared to the Superpole pace, Rossi was about a second off Cal Crutchlow’s pole setting pace of 1?58.018, while being nearly half a second faster than Toseland’s 1?59.699. Rossi was rumored to be on Toseland’s YZF-R1 today.
“Today was good, I felt better than in Misano but I still feel quite tired after a few laps and a race will be a much bigger question,” said Rossi. “We haven’t made the final decision yet, I need to have some more x-rays on Wednesday, and then my doctors and I will consider whether I can ride at Sachsenring. Once I’d understood my physical condition today, I had great fun riding the R1 and even did some work on the settings! I want to say a big thank you to the WSB Team for staying on here another day and making this test possible for me.”

You cant keep a good guy down....
I think his presence back on track will be enough to put the fear of God into most of the competition. Even when he breaks a leg, He's still faster than anyone else at securing his recovery.
I so so so hope he is ok to race. I want to see Hondas and Ducatis anhiallated by the leading Yamaha pair.

Regardless of what people think of him as an individual he's saved motogp the last few years, even when he wasn't winning, the rest have no personality and if you watch tv then it desperately needs someone to come along when he retires or its going down the tubes.

Well I think RossiGp is awesome. When the rest have enough talent to take him on, win and make it stick it may be better to watch for those who feel it somewhat boring, but at the moment, the lad has set out his stall and beckons to all comers. It's not his fault theyre all shite.

I think I may have to agree with both sides Rossi is an awesome rider and a legend in the sport, but GP has become boring.
Moto 2 now that’s a race series!!!

MotoGP has only become boring cos its run by the bean counters, even Rossi has said lets go back to the days when there were no technical aids like; launch control, abs, fly by wire, tyres that are made of 10 or more different compounds for certain riding angles incorporated into 1 tyre, anti wheelie controls, clutchless gear changes up and down.
Also bring back the flexi frame, thats how we knew we had good riders the fact they could tame the beast. I'd guess and say 95% of the riders we have now wouldn't be there if it was like the 90's.
